At Tangerine, we want to promote a new era of filmmakers and initiate change with the production of new stories. We have chosen to use our expertise to support the first and second productions of African filmmakers. A major challenge necessary to support new creations.
Today, getting involved in audiovisual production is a bit crazy. After the Covid 19 crisis and the desertification of the rooms, the profession is in full mutation. In order to keep its head above water, most of the industry is forced to turn to more lucrative pursuits than independent original production.
As such, formats considered unprofitable are disappearing, formats such as short films for example. However, its existence is necessary for the survival of cinema and its renewal. All great directors start with a short film.
We have to trust them a first time. You have to start somewhere ! So, each year, Tangerine aims to produce a minimum of three short films by launching calls for projects throughout Senegal.

By currently taking the pulse of the audiovisual industry in Senegal, we perceive a new breath in the youth who is waiting for a space that allows them to tell their own stories, as evidenced by the screenplays of young filmmakers that we receive in numbers at Tangerine Productions.
Based on this observation, we thought of setting up writing and directing residency projects with the production of short films. They are accompanied and supervised by recognized professionals in their field.
How will your donations be used to promote African cinema?
The production of a first and second short film costs around €15,000. These expenses are divided between production, broadcasting and team remuneration costs.
Your donations allow us to invest in:
better remuneration for the technical team and casting,
a quality local post production,
a national distribution to allow people to see films produced in Senegal.
At the end of each year, you will receive a personal report detailing where, when and how your investment was spent.
